VISUAL ABSTRACT ART

SUBLIMINAL MIRRORS 2022-2025
"Often we don't clearly understand where the boundary lies between what is real and what isn't. We think the demarcation line between what exists and what doesn't is movable, like a frontier that shifts of its own accord." (from Murakami Haruki, Killing Commendatore, 2018)
The artworks are part of a series of acrylic paintings created over years using palette knives, wood fragments and other unconventional tools.
The process is an exploration. It evolved over time from small-scale abstractions to larger and more immersive compositions. While rooted in earlier explorations ('Square Series' 2019/2020, composed of 50cm x 50cm canvases), these 100cm x 100cm works are part of an evolution - expanding in scale and deepening the expressive possibilities of texture and movement.
Each piece is shaped by a mixture of subconscious influences and external experiences, with ambient music used during the creation process acting as a bridge between the dream world and reality. The larger format allows for a more physical engagement with the surface, amplifying the energy and intuition of the creative meditative process.

SPAZI ATEMPORALI 2022
"Spazi Atemporali" is a project composed of two canvases, each measuring 150 x 90 cm, created after a period in which the artist took a break from painting.
During this pause, she immersed herself in reading, meditation, and self-reflection, exploring the connection between past and present, and gaining a deeper understanding of her personal needs and boundaries. These reflections led her to question the nature of time—and what might exist beyond it. As is her normal practice, the artist focused on the process of her work - not the final result.
Time is an abstract concept we use to define forward progression; it gives us an organized perception of the passing of day and night, of the Earth’s rotation and its orbit around the sun. Yet the inescapable flow of time can sometimes bring anxiety, especially as it moves on without the possibility of return. Not everything unfolds as we wish—whether in our own lives or in the world around us. We cannot control time, but we can choose how to live it—fully, positively, or constructively. Of course, this is not always possible, neither for ourselves nor beyond our limited sphere.
The artwork “Antro” (Italian for "cave" or "sanctuary") stems from the idea of this intuitive, creative possibility as a place of refuge—outside of time—where possibilities become infinite, abstract, and magical. Almost like a symbol of personal liberation, it suggests a space in which actions outside the standard norms can emerge.
The second canvas of the project, though identical in size, remains without a frame—deliberately—leaving open the possibility of infinite expansion for this imagined, suspended space.

SOMNIUM 2021
This artwork is an intuitive continuation of the work the artist began with the 2019 “Square Series”. The collection consists of six 50 x 100 cm canvases, which the artist created using palette knives, pieces of wood and foils. As is her normal practice, she painted through instinct - beginning with a blank canvass and developing the piece without any kind of plan or forethought.
While reading C.G. Jung's "Man and His Symbols", the artist reflected on the relationship of modern humans with their own subconscious - and how the rapid pace of modern life in today's society can sabotage that connection. This project is a manifestation of those musings. The artist examined it after the creation and read the result as a manifestation of these reflections.
The pieces were painted two by together and feature contrasting colors - like black and white, dark and light (colors used in almost all of the artist's works). This duality of bright and shadow is representative of the realm of dreams, when our subconscious attempts to emerge during the night. The translation of the Latin word "SOMNIUM", in fact, is "DREAM". The artist believes that dreams and art are bound together, both representations of how human beings could find connection with the hidden inner self.

EXPERIMENTAL SERIES 2020-2021
The project is a progression of paintings focused on the relationship between unconscious expression and sensory perception - especially tactile and aural.
The series includes abstract works of different sizes created by launching and smearing acrylic colors with the hands and other parts of the body. The artist began this emotional practice instinctively. As a result, she decided to continue experimenting and producing works with large color overlays.
